SPEAKER
LeAnna Cumber, Jacksonville City Council
CLE Credit Pending
Combatting Sex Trafficking in Northeast Florida
In early 2020, Jacksonville Council member LeAnna Cumber passed one of the country's most comprehensive ordinances combatting the scourge of sex trafficking. The bill would go on to become a national model for how municipalities crack down on the horrific epidemic. By creating long-lasting structural changes within the city, mandating a series of educational practices, and codifying a mayoral-appointed city board run exclusively by survivors, Cumber shed light on this critical issue and led the fight against traffickers in Northeast Florida.
Cumber is a bilingual small business owner and attorney who represents Jacksonville's 5th District, encompassing the Southside, including San Marco and north Mandarin. Prior to owning her transportation consulting business, she worked as a House Manager at a local battered women's shelter in Nacogdoches. She was also a public-school teacher. She's licensed to practice law in Washington DC and California.
Prior to the presentation, Missy Davenport will join us as our guest spotlight speaker.
